China-made DSG Magotan to roll off line by year end

By George Gao  From:Gasgoo.comJune 04, 2008

Shanghai, June 4 (Gasgoo.com) The first batch of China-made Magotan cars equipped with the DSG (direct shift gearbox) transmission will roll off the production line at the end of this year, and Magotan will become the first China-made car model to use the DSG transmission.

The DSG transmission will complete its trial run by the end of 2008 and its mass-production is expected to start in early 2009. All the locally made Sagitar and Magotan models of FAW VW will be equipped by the DSG transmissions to replace the current 6-speed automatic / manual transmission.

Like the manual transmission, the DSG transmission conveys the power from the engine to the gearbox by using the clutch, and thus it is more likely to achieve energy efficiency than the conventional hydrodynamic coupling convey. This will greatly help the vehicles equipped with it reduce the fuel consumption.

The Chinese-made Magotan powered by the TSI engine has helped customers realize the technological achievements made by Volkswagen in the development of auto engines. In the near future, we will first feel the driving pleasure brought by the state-of-the-art transmission technology.

More importantly, Chinese customers will benefit from the energy-economy vehicle driven by the TSI+DSG power-train.
