Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor, simply called Electrolytic Capacitor (e-cap), is a type of capacitor that uses electrolyte to achieve larger capacitance than other capacitor types. It consists of cathode aluminum foil, electrolytic paper, electrolyte, and aluminum oxide film, which acts as the dielectric, formed on the anode foil surface.

Due to its large capacitance, Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitor is suitable for passing or bypassing low frequency signals and storing large amounts of energy. It widely be used in power supplies and for decoupling unwanted AC components from DC power connections.
