The software of it is running in VMWARE(virtual machine), you only need to run vmware programer in your own laptop, then run software, no need to change your HDD, you can use your laptop as same as before, no affect.

You need to know 3 things before you buy this Super mb star Platinum:

1. Mobile HDD comes with the software in vmware, not native

2. You need to make sure your laptop can meet its Hardware and software requirements 

Hardware requires at least Intel Celeron/Pentium 2.0GHz, 2G RAM, USB 2.0 recommended and Microsoft Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7 latest service pack installed.
