1.0503 steel is a medium-strength high-quality carbon steel with high strength. Due to its poor hardenability, it is generally used in normalized state. When mechanical properties are required, it is quenched and tempered. Cold deformability is moderate, and the machinability of annealing and normalizing is better than quenching and tempering. Used for manufacturing parts with high strength requirements, such as gears, shafts, piston pins, etc., and mechanically processed parts, forgings, stampings and bolts, nuts, and pipe joints that are not subject to heavy forces.
