ASTM A516 Grade 65 steel is a carbon steel grade intended primarily for service in welded pressure vessels where improved notch toughness is required, and is normally found in moderate and lower temperature applications. For higher grade like A516 grade 70 steel plate, preheating might be needed for metal arc welding process, especialy with thick steel plate.
